How many calories do you burn having sex? That is the eternal weight loss question. The reason is because having sex is the most enjoyable way to burn calories that most people can think of. But how many calories do you actually burn while having sex? Well let us find out.
HOW MANY CALORIES DO YOU BURN HAVING SEX
Your age, weight, and intensity level are the biggest determining factors to how many calories you can burn having sex. And when we talk about sex, we are talking about foreplay and intercourse. I actually found that each of these burns a different number of calories. The average person at moderate intensity levels burn around 350 calories an hour having sex and 150 calories an hour during foreplay. Now that sounds like a lot, but you have to consider a few things before you get ready for your new and exciting weight loss plan.
Number one is that the average person is only capable of having actual "intercourse" for about ten minutes. Foreplay, for this same individual, usually lasts twenty minutes. So the total calorie burn while having sex should be around 30 minutes, especially if it happens every night. So ten minutes worth of sexual intercourse should burn around 58 calories while twenty minutes of foreplay should burn around 50 calories. So 30 minutes of sex for the average person should burn around 108 calories.
HOW MANY CALORIES DO YOU BURN HAVING SEX COMPARED TO SITTING ON THE COUCH
I decided to find out how many calories I would burn just sitting on the couch so that I could see how many extra calories I would burn by having sex. Sitting on the couch for the average person burns around 120 calories an hour. So thirty minutes of sitting on the couch would burn 60 calories, while 30 minutes of having sex would burn 108 calories. So the total amount of extra calories I would burn by having sex every day is 48.
CAN YOU LOSE WEIGHT BY BURNING CALORIES HAVING SEX
Well everyone knows that 3500 calories makes a pound when it comes to weight loss. So by having sex every day I could burn a pound of fat every two months. So the total weight loss on my new "Sex Weight loss plan" is around 6 pounds a year. I'm positive that running on a treadmill each night for 30 minutes would be more efficient as a weight loss tool, although not near as fun. Now if you happen to be a person that can actually have sex for a full hour non stop (And I want to know if you do it with your Superman cape on or off if you are one of these LUCKY people) then your extra calories burned would be around 230 which would add up to around 24 pounds lost each year. So the answer to the question of how many calories you burn having sex is simply that it depends on how good you are at having sex. With that in mind I plan to convince my wife that practice makes perfect. Hopefully we can get started on our new weight loss plan as soon as possible.
